FAQs

To try and answer some of your questions upfront I've compiled a list of commonly asked questions.
If your question isn't here, don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you have.

How long does it take to make the website?

Once the initial payment has been received and all images, copy, color schemes and page choices have been made, it should take less than 2 weeks to have the site completed and running. I'll can keep you updated on the progress and status, while in process if you'd like, and you can watch it come together in the proofing area on my server.

Who owns the site when it's completed?

The site is yours. I've looked at many other web design sites and it's pretty much the same across the board. I'm being contracted to make the site for you. So when the job is done, it's yours. One thing I have noticed many web design sites mention though is that all the content it yours as well. I'll state a caveat with regards to images, seeing that I'm a photographer as well. It's assumed that you have usage rights for the images you provide for use on the site.

Do you make Flash websites?

If I had a dollar every time I was asked that. Currently I do not make flash sites. I will incorporate certain flash objects at times. There are some benefits with image protection within slideshows, so I'll typically use flash for that as well. Flash sites can be slow, annoying as a result and time consuming and costly to create. So, who knows where my future will lead me with projects, but at present it's not an option.

What if I want to have a blog on my site?

There are a few options we can look into for that depending on the server the site it hosted on and the database structure. Contact me and we'll talk more about it.

Do you host websites?

I'm looking into site hosting packages now that would allow me to host my clients sites as well as assist them in domain registration.

Can I find a web hosting company that I'd like to use?

By all means... My goal is to create a site that you love and that works great for you. If I can help you by hosting it, I'd love to help, but I'm not going suggest that I have to host your site with me for a month, a year or anything like that.

Who does the updates for the site?

Once the site is running, it's your choice. You can do edits, I can give you some pointers and I'm just a call/email away or I could make changes for you from time to time at a reasonable rate. I've found a CMS (Content Management Software) that I'm checking out... so far I like what I see and it allows you direct access to portions of the site that would be useful to update from time to time. I'm going to do some more testing and get a few of my clients to check it out. Ask me about it if you're interested.

How do I get listed in the search engines?

Well, I realize some of you may want to get top placement when a search is done, others want to remain in the shadows and cater to more word of mouth clientele. Let me know either way, but I try to get the meta structure of the pages setup in such a way that the search engines will find you on their own and I can also submit the site to the ones that still allow that as well.

Are provider sites the only sites you design?

Well, I've designed both of my photography sites, the site for my company at my daytime job as well as I'm working with a company based out of Chicago who's hoping to have THE LATEST TREND this winter. So no, I don't limit my web design clientele to just providers, but on this site, it's all about you beautiful ladies!

You mentioned you're a photographer as well, do I get discounts for shooting with you?

I've decided that any of my web design clients that would like to utilize my photography services will have FSC status. My Frequent Shooters Club is for clients I've shot with more than 3 times as a thank you for their continued trust and respect for the work I do for them. I offer them a lower rate, like my older rates, kind of like a grand father clause I used to offer. (read more here...) Sometimes my photography specials running are lower than that of the FSC discount, so you'll always get the lowest rate.
